Madeleine was born on Ten Mile Point, daughter of the late Evalena and Guy Jaggard. Predeceased by beloved husband John, August 13, 1989. Loving mother of Cheryl (nee Charlton) and John "Tom" White (predeceased November 4, 2015) of Manitowaning, Patricia Linkert (nee Charlton) of Calgary, AB, John Charlton of Manitowaning, and Ed and Jeannie Charlton (nee Smith) of Newmarket. Predeceased by brother Harry Jaggard (wife Gladys) and sisters Violet (husbands Fred Hubbert & Bob McAllister), Lillian (husband Charles Viney), Bessie (husband James Lockyer), Florence (husband Walter Lenson) and Beulah and Iris Jaggard. Loving grandmother to Donald and John Wilson, Kerrie (nee Wilson) and Wade Kruger, Bradley and Bryan White, Emily (nee Charlton) and Jordan Lazareth, and Erin Charlton. Forever remembered by several great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of close friends. Madeleine dedicated her life to her husband John as loyal wife, hardworking hands on the farm, mother to the four children they graciously adopted as their own, and as unwavering caregiver for John to his final day. Madeleine lost John far too early and although she never stopped missing him, her resilience, curiosity and dedication to her faith propelled her to live out dreams and celebrate many firsts; like world travel, several cross Canada car trips with her friends to see her daughter Pat in Calgary, AB, and most notably, achieving Elder status for the Community of Christ Church in 1991. In retirement, Madeleine spent much of her time as Clergy for the Manitoulin Health Centre, having sat with hundreds of families during times of sickness, death and dying. Madeleine Charlton, a remarkable life, lived to the fullest. Forever rest in peace with Dad, Mom. Family and friends will gather at Island Funeral Home. Visitation: Friday, April 8 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Masks must be worn at all times and proof of vaccination must be shown. Funeral Service: Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m. The service will be shared via Zoom. Please contact Dawn Dawson for the link. Interment of ashes will take place in the summer of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary or to the Providence Bay Community of Christ. Good News!!
The Hamilton Congregation building was sold in 2019 before Covid. BUT….. This Sunday, April 10th, we are gathering in-person for our first time in 2 years at the Courtyard Marriot Hotel, Hamilton Room, 1224 Upper James St (near Limeridge Mall) at 11 a.m. Our Welcoming Community will share together for communion, conversation, laying on of hands for health and wholeness, and fellowship. If you know of family, friends, disconnected members from past years, we would be pleased to share our wholehearted welcome. I am ministering full time in the Greater Hamilton area. Daily I am connecting with any and all, affirming those of every background to create a community that cares for one another and others. I have made contacts with local inter-faith, inter-cultural, seeker, and LGBTQ+ groups and hope we can create a bridge across differences and offer a meaningful place for all. Please let me know of any connections I may make, pastoral care or support and ideas that you have. Blessings, With Meaning, Kerry Richards 416-917-9377 [email protected] ![]() Allan Douglas Wigood born January 29, 1930, passed away peacefully March 28, 2022, at 3:20 am at Grand River Hospital. In the weeks before his death Allan was surrounded by his family, just the way he imagined his last days on earth would be. Allan expressed much excitement for all of his heavenly reunions but the one he longed for the most was with his true love and wife of almost 65 years, Hazel Wigood. Allan took great pride in the family and beautiful life he and Hazel built together. He leaves behind his 5 children Jim Wigood (Renie), Linda Schott, Susan Wigood, Ken Wigood (Diana), Diane Noseworthy (Bernie), his grandchildren, Rob (Jackie), Jason, Lori (Mike), Jeremy, Sarah, Chad (Jordan), Aimee, Meghan, Dina, Tim (Megan) Danny (Matty) and Zach (Cassie). He adored his 24 great-grandchildren and was excited to welcome his 5th and 6th great-great-grandchildren just weeks before his passing! Allan also leaves behind his special family in Honduras, Gricelda, Patrocinio, Sindy, Darlin, Zoe and Ecsael and many many friends! Allan has also been reunited in heaven with his parents Jean and Cecil Wigood, sister Isabelle, brother Fred, beloved son Bruce Wigood, son-in-law Gary Schott, granddaughter Stephanie Schott and many others. Allan will be so sorely missed and remembered for more reasons than can possibly be expressed in one short obituary. It was very clear to him, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him, that he was divinely chosen to do great things on this earth. He was a true earth angel, a pillar of strength, not only to his own family and community but also many communities around the world. Allan was the epitome of love, the kindest and most generous spirit, always giving all that he could to serve others. Allan was a very dedicated member of Community of Christ in Kitchener for much of his life. In 1977 he was ordained and went on to be an elder with the Church. Over the years he has joined many couples in marriage, blessed countless individuals, saw many off on their journeys to the other-side and started his very important work with World Accord. Allan spent his early working years as an entrepreneur. His last 16 years of his career were spent with Home Hardware where he would retire and continue with the work he was truly passionate about. Allan changed the lives of innumerable people in Honduras where he spent the last 30+ years of his life building up impoverished communities, educating farmers, helping to end malnutrition, and fighting for better education for the youth. He improved the quality of life for so many individuals and has been loved and respected so deeply by all for his many years of dedication and hard work. He truly was a King in their community. Allan had a life goal to complete 50 schools and was very proud to have accomplished this goal. He finalized his last build just weeks before he passed. His final build was quite a special one. A two room high school in memory of his beloved son-in-law Gary Schott. In Allan's 92 years of life, he modeled to so many what we desperately need more of in this world. He was a man of God and always held strong to his faith even through his most difficult days. He loved unconditionally and without judgment, accepting everyone. He lived simply and peacefully, finding joy in small moments. He had a vision for his life, and he conquered it beyond anyone's wildest dreams. He lived with purpose and passion and always followed his heart. His presence in this world made a massive difference and his absence will leave a great hole in the hearts of many. Allan your life was a true blessing to so many and your memory and legacy is sure to live on forever. Funeral details will be confirmed and made available on the funeral home website on approximately Wednesday April 6, 2022. As expressions of sympathy, donations to World Accord - Al Wigood would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com to view Allan's memorial. |
