Share your story of intentional moments when you have noticed and gazed upon the sacredness of creation. Share your awareness of the need to courageously “gaze even here,” at the devastation humans have caused to the planet. Invite your friends to join as well. All sessions are free. Participation in previous conversations in the series is not necessary to join in this opportunity. Further conversations in our Phase one series will include “Hope for a New Creation,” during the month of October. In addition, President Steve Veazey will join us for worship on October 11, to share a special message about the climate crises we face and our response as a faith community. During the winter of 2020 and 2021, there will be six more conversations/presentations, which will constitute Phase Two. We will explore the unraveling of God’s sacred creation, the re-weaving of the web of life, climate change and the Community of Christ, and lifestyle practices that foster hope. Dates for these subsequent conversations will be publicized in your mission center news briefs and on the website below. Watch for them! Once registered, you will be sent a Zoom link a few days before each session of the series.
Sacredness of Creation is an online ministry sponsored by the Greater Pacific Northwest USA Mission Center for Community of Christ. The North American Climate Justice Team includes members from GPNWMC, Canada East, Canada West, Inland West, Sierra Pacific Mission Center and Southwest Pacific International Mission Center. How are you building connections during the global pandemic? In his most recent video, President Steve Veazey encourages us to explore innovative ways to grow communities of joy, hope, love, and peace. President Veazey recommends a book by Vivek Murthy, Together: The Healing Power of Human Connection in a Sometimes Lonely World.

He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl “Cheri” Swackhammer and their children Kenny and Bobby. Also loving father to David (Vivian), Wendell (Nancy), Stephen (Cindy) and Tyler (Corena). Proud grandfather of Erica (Neil), Travis (Allison), Emily (Bowen), Lisa (Ryan), Lauren (Amanda), Jes, Nicole (Khiem), Leah (Peter), Asher, Nate, Judah, Brie and Kesia. Great grandfather to Joey, Camryn, Benjamin, Ezra, Ovid, Adonis, Lyla and one on the way. Pre-deceased by his brother, Wayne Martin and his parents, Winnie Towns and Harry Martin. He loved working as well as being involved in his community through his work as an Elder in the Community of Christ and as a member of the Carleton Place Daycare Board. New Format for CEM 2020 Conference!! October 24-25 "Disciples and Seekers Blessing Sacred Community" In order to balance the need to practice social distancing and attend to the business of Canada East Mission Centre, this year's conference will be held virtually. There are some unique advantages...
So Much More Than Just Business! Special Guests... Conference is not just for delegates and ex-officios. It's for everyone. Business brings us together but we are enriched by our engagement with each other. A special campfire is being planned for everyone with Apostle Art Smith on Saturday evening. You won't want to miss the fun and laughter or the warmth of the gathering. Ron Harmon is our special guest speaker on Sunday. Stay tuned to be uplifted and encouraged for the road ahead. New Procedures Pastors will be receiving a package of information regarding how many delegates your congregation is allotted, how to select delegates and how they register. Once congregational lists are submitted, delegates and ex-officio will receive further information. The conference booklet will be made available electronically. Conducting a virtual business meeting will require a learning curve. Training sessions are scheduled to familiarize everyone with Zoom and Poll Everywhere, the platform we will use to vote on resolutions. Delegates will need a device connected to the internet i.e. computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone. Pre-legislative sessions will equip delegates and ex-officio with an understanding of the business to be presented to the conference body. Plan to attend for business and pleasure, connection and worship.
Expect to be inspired. Invite others in your congregation to participate too! Called by God to gather once again to witness live ministry, great music, and fellowship that defies physical distance. Live from Missouri, Becky Savage will explore Exodus 3:1-15, the story of Moses at the Burning Bush and the Revelation of the Divine Name; President Stassi Cramm will offer the DGR; and Danny Belrose will offer the invocation.
