The First Presidency invites members and friends worldwide to hold 9-11 June 2022 for an online event to prepare for the 2023 World Conference.
Members and friends participating in the June 2022 online event will worship together, learn about resolutions and other topics to be considered at the 2023 World Conference, and continue exploration of WCR 1319 — Nonviolence. Planners are working to determine when and how to best gather online, knowing that participation will span the world’s time zones. As details become available, updates will be provided. Although we can’t gather in person in 2022, we look forward to being together online and through focused resources and activities as we share in worldwide community. Watch for more information on the church’s website, by email, and on social media. In a video launched this week, Community of Christ President Steve Veazey addresses the process of returning to in-person church as the COVID-19 pandemic wanes in some areas. Their amazing program has an 85% success rate with preventing repeat offenders. Over this past month, the Sharing Love in Mission community held a fundraiser and matched the proceeds of that fundraiser with money from the mission portion of their budget. With the support of members and friends we were able to present to Restorative Justice a cheque for $1000 to support their ongoing work in Chatham Kent. This commitment of Sharing God’s Love with associations who perform valuable work in our community and around the world is what we feel called to do as our attempt to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ. Over the last 12 months, even though the pandemic has made it difficult to have contact with others, we have found ways to support organizations that uphold the values we share in our Enduring Principles. We have sent financial assistance to institutions upholding Indigenous People, the Black Historical Society in Chatham, World Accord, the Homeless Shelter, and the Pride community of Chatham Kent. We also ran a successful "Timmie’s" card program where members and friends were given Tim Horton's Cards and were asked to share them with anyone they met who they felt needed a meal. The program was so successful over the winter that it will be utilized again this coming fall and winter. We are so thankful for the generous support of our congregation in Community of Christ.
