Doreen Campbell 1927 – 2022 It is with deep sadness that we must say goodbye for now, to our precious Mom. She slipped away on Wednesday, May 25 at Fergus GMCH in the arms of her loved ones. She has gone to join the love of her life, our father, Willis (1999). Forever cherished by their five children: Larry (2020) & Wendy, Nadine & Gary, Darryl & Bonnie, Cheryl & Dean, and Alita. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Mom’s favourite times were spent with her family. Our parents were amazing role models, both being active in their local community and in Community of Christ. Mom has been a good and faithful servant and will continue to be in the hearts of those who knew her. We shall never forget the numerous acts of kindness from so many that played a role in her life, some for a long time and others only briefly. We shall also be forever grateful to the doctors and nursing staff at the hospital. To all of them we say thank you. We will miss our dear sweet mother more than words can ever convey. A private family gathering to honour Doreen’s life will take place in the near future, after which, she will be laid to rest beside our father at Belsyde Cemetery in Fergus, Ontario. ![]() The Presiding Bishopric has released the June 2022 Financial Update. John Nicols highly recommends watching the recording, especially the presentation by Robert Ellsberg and the response by Ukrainian Catholic Archbishop Borys of Philadelphia (11 minutes in). If you are passionate or curious about peace theology, then this exchange covers the contemporary waterfront.
On May 24, 2022, thousands of people from around the world gathered on online for our 2022 Voices for Peace conference – "Blessed Are the Peacemakers." Featured keynote — award-winning author and the publisher of Orbis books, Robert Ellsberg, spoke about what it is to create a culture of peace that embraces the radical vision of the Beatitudes. “Each of the beatitudes presents a challenge to a world that prizes power, success, and greatness. Among them all, the beatitude of peacemaking is perhaps the most counter-cultural.” - Robert Ellsberg Special Guests include: Boris Gudziak, Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church; Willard Metzger, Executive Director, Citizens for Public Justice; Joanne Jefferson, Kairos Indigenous Rights Circle, Stolon Nation; opera singer and concert artist Measha Brueggergosman; and peace activist Sister Mary-Ellen Francoeur. ![]() Children and Youth Worker Core Training This course takes about 4-weeks and covers:
