Winnifred Martha Tulloch May 25th, 1922 – January 17th, 2024 Winnie Tulloch (Wicksey, Gribble) passed away peacefully at 101 years old in her room at Garden Terrace, in Kanata. Her daughter, Barbara was by her side and was able to connect with her siblings so they could say goodbye. Winnie is predeceased by her late husband Earl Tulloch, her first husband Joseph Wicksey, her parents; John Gribble and Ivy (Hickman), her brother Harold, her sister Dorothy, and her three sons; Edgar, Ronald (Arland), and Leslie (Darlene). Winnie is survived by her brother Ernest Gribble (Jeanne), and four of her children: Barbara (Donald Kernohan), Ethel (Dean Hiday), Katharine (Roland Meloche), and Jeffrey (Laura McNiff). Winnie and Joseph raised seven children. Sadly, Joseph passed away before several of their children had grown up. Winnie was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Resourceful and positive are the two words that can aptly describe Winnie. Having grown up and raised a family on limited means, she knew how to focus on what was truly important, always with a smile on her face and blessing those that knew her with an adorable sense of humour that was more important for creating lasting memories. She was blessed with a green thumb and wonderful baking skills that were enjoyed by all who knew her. Later in life she selflessly embraced the joy that can come with enabling others that were less fortunate. Her support created environments for memories to be made at the Erie Beach campground and she also supported developments at McGowan’s Lake. She had a strong faith in God and was an active member in Community of Christ. Winnie always had “busy hands!” creating arts and crafts not only for her closest family members but also as a lifelong fundraising event! She raised thousands of dollars for her favourite charity, World Accord, ‘Cultivating Communities to Thrive Around the World’, one stitch at a time. Community was important to Winnie, and she embraced activities that would create positive social interactions. Whether it was with her family for birthdays and holidays, or events with her fellow Garden Terrace Community members. They all mattered. She even embraced a little friendly competition, including playing Bingo. (The last time she played, she won all four games!) Her family wishes to thank the staff at Garden Terrace for their wonderful and respectful care during her time in residence. Winnie’s Celebration of Life will occur at Community of Christ, 888 Byron Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, on February 10th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a light lunch. To request a Zoom link contact Barbara Kernohan. Donations to World Accord or your favourite charity would be greatly appreciated. Comments are closed.
