Participants can share worship responses in real time in a live chat. German- and Dutch-speaking members and friends can join in worship as part of a live Zoom event with the European church; German speakers can contact [email protected] for details. “The People Walk” is a communal opportunity for examination, reflection, and challenge as we consider the Advent journeys of Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, the Magi, and all of creation…and our call as we walk our own Advent journey. The church’s global diversity will be seen in reflections on "Hope" from Rashmirekha Mallick of India, "Love" from Humberto Rosario of the Dominican Republic, "Joy" from Nicolas Lethanh of New Caledonia, and "Peace" from Apostle Barbara Carter of the USA. The First Presidency will open and close the service, and President Steve Veazey will offer a moving Advent prayer. A worldwide choir will celebrate the season in song, and Organist-in-residence Jan Kraybill will play the prelude and postlude and unite us in singing our faith. We hope you can join us and encourage you to invite others! The Communications team, in collaboration with groups from the field and headquarters, is leading an effort to increase and focus the church’s presence online. As technology and the way people interact with information evolve, an awareness that we’ve outgrown our digital home is becoming apparent. The strategy emerging from our collaborative work positions the church to look confidently into the future. We’re excited to share some of the Phase One elements of this strategic plan. BACKGROUND The current CofChrist.org has three major communication goals---mission, administrative operations, and formational resources and experiences. Communicating all of that and providing relevant information to leaders, members, and seekers is a tall order for any single website. We find our messaging becomes diluted or sometimes even confusing depending on your role and how you interact with certain information. OVERVIEW The new digital landscape strategy for Community of Christ includes three distinct yet connected websites with three focus areas.
Site: www.HeraldHouse.org Audience: Members, leaders, planners Details: Discover retail and free disciple formation tools, resources, and products. Enhanced French and Spanish experience will be available in the first quarter of 2022, followed by a way to see several pages of a book’s PDF before downloading. WE RECEIVED OVER 65 NAME SUGGESTIONS FOR THE COMMUNITY OF CHRIST SHAREPOINT SITE DURING THE INITIAL BRAINSTORM PHASE. THE COMMUNICATIONS TEAM REVIEWED THE SUBMISSIONS AND GROUPED SIMILAR IDEAS AND THEMES TO ARRIVE AT THREE GREAT OPTIONS. Kerr, Marilyn (née Bertrand) 1952 - 2021 The family announces with sorrow her death in Sudbury, Wednesday November 10th, 2021 at the age of 69 years. Daughter of the late Arthur and of the late Marion (née Mallott) Bertrand. Beloved wife of Larry Kerr. Dear mother of Tammy-Ann Jarmolinski (William "Bill") and Jonathan (Pierre). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kathleen and April. Sister of Shirley Ford, Vera Coulombe (late Maurice), Debbie MacLeod (Tobby), Kim Bertrand (Shirley), and Bonnie Bertrand. After graduating as an adult from College having studied social work, Marilyn worked at a Women’s Crisis Centre in Sudbury and later at Enaahtig Healing Lodge, becoming eventually the Program Manager. Marilyn was very active in her Community of Christ Congregation where she humbly shared her musical talents by playing the pump-organ for services and occasionally graced us with her beautiful singing voice accompanied by her guitar. She carried an unwavering faith in her Lord, which helped to endure the recent illness, assured of her eternal rest. A Heartfelt thank you to all family and friends for their care and compassion for Marilyn during the past years as she battled courageously with her health issues. Due to pandemic conditions a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements in care of the Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls.
